Technique & guide
Storing and Reheating Fried Chicken
Leftover fried chicken can still be good the next day if it is cooled, refrigerated and reheated safely.
Food-safety note: Keep raw chicken separate from ready-to-eat foods, marinate under refrigeration, and cook poultry to at least 165°F / 73.9°C as measured with a food thermometer. Hot-oil frying requires careful adult handling and suitable equipment.
Refrigerate promptly
Do not leave cooked poultry at room temperature for long periods. Transfer leftovers to refrigeration promptly in suitable containers.
Reheat with dry heat
Oven or air-fryer reheating usually restores the crust better than a microwave.
Check the center
Reheat leftovers thoroughly. For poultry leftovers, a food thermometer provides a reliable safety check.
