Technique & guide
Dipping Sauces for Fried Chicken
A good dipping sauce can add acidity, sweetness, heat or creaminess without changing the chicken recipe.
Food-safety note: Keep raw chicken separate from ready-to-eat foods, marinate under refrigeration, and cook poultry to at least 165°F / 73.9°C as measured with a food thermometer. Hot-oil frying requires careful adult handling and suitable equipment.
Tangy mustard
Combine mustard with a little honey or maple-style sweetness and a splash of vinegar.
Pepper mayo
Stir black pepper, lemon and garlic into mayonnaise.
Spicy ranch-style
Blend a ranch-style dressing base with hot sauce to taste.
Barbecue dip
Use a favorite barbecue sauce or mix tomato-based sauce with vinegar and mild spices.
Herb yogurt
Mix plain yogurt with herbs, lemon and a small pinch of salt.
Sweet chile-style
Use a prepared sweet chile sauce or a simple purchased dipping sauce for a glossy contrast.
